School Meals
The Academy operates its own highly efficient in house meals services, providing a balanced and nutritional meals throughout the day within its restaurant which fully meet the government guidelines. It is provision that has a considerable take up from students taking advantage of it, underpinned by a strong belief within the Academy that good nutrition allows student learning to be more effective and productive throughout the academy day. The value for money services operates three times a day in term time, starting with breakfast club, running from 7:45 to 8:30, where the academy allows student to benefit from a free breakfast whilst also learning at the same time.
Break time operates between 9:50 – 10:10, and with lunch running from 12:10 – 12:50. Lunch operates on a rota basis with Year 7 to 10 rotating to one of four different time slots allocated throughout out each week. Year 11 will also be set to have their lunch first to easily allow them to gain lunch and then carry out any revision activites or catch up on work if needed throughout the lunch break.
The service operates on a cashless basis, so that students don’t need to be carrying cash around them everyday. Each student is provided with their ID cards which enables to pay for their meals as well as loaning books out of the library. The cards are colour coded to show the relevant year group and includes the students name, photo and a unique ID. T op up their cards, they can do so through ParentPay an online school banking services which allows quick and easy transfers between your bank to students cards when topping up for their lunch or paying for other expenses.
